AN ACTIVE LOVE

325th Meditation

“If you knew this Father (…), would not then this love which you would offer me become, under My impulse, an active love?” (Message of the Father to Sister Eugenia Ravasio).

As we get to know our Father more deeply, the love that dwells in His paternal Heart awakens in us. If we love Him, we will at the same time love people and seek their salvation. Read More

“It is for your own good that I am going”

NOTE: Since in the last few days we have meditated several times on the Gospel read today in the Novus Ordo (Jn 14:1-12), we will take on this occasion the Gospel according to the traditional calendar.

Jn 14:1-6

Now I am going to the one who sent me. Not one of you asks, ‘Where are you going?’ Yet you are sad at heart because I have told you this. Still, I am telling you the truth: it is for your own good that I am going, because unless I go, the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. Read More

Acts 13:44-52

The next Sabbath almost the whole town assembled to hear the word of God. When they saw the crowds, the Jews, filled with jealousy, used blasphemies to contradict everything Paul said. Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out fearlessly. ‘We had to proclaim the word of God to you first, but since you have rejected it, since you do not think yourselves worthy of eternal life, here and now we turn to the gentiles. Jn 14:1-6

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father’s house there are many places to live in; otherwise I would have told you. I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you to myself, so that you may be with me where I am. Read More

GOVERNING THE WORLD IN HOLINESS AND JUSTICE

323rd Meditation

“In your wisdom you have fitted human to (…) govern the world in holiness and saving justice and in honesty of soul to dispense fair judgement” (Wis 9:2a,3).

The Father not only entrusted to our care the irrational Creation, but also the world, which is to be shaped by humankind. If with regard to our responsibility towards creation the Father emphasised that we should treat it with wisdom, for the administration of the world He mentions holiness and saving justice as criteria. Those qualities which our Father possesses in fullness – holiness and justice – and which we can receive from Him, He wants to see reflected in us when we assume responsibility in the human world. Jn 13:16-20

After Jesus had washed the disciples’ feet, he said to them: ‘In all truth I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, no messenger is greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know this, blessed are you if you behave accordingly. I am not speaking about all of you: I know the ones I have chosen; but what scripture says must be fulfilled: ‘He who shares my table takes advantage of me’. Read More

“NO ONE CAN SNATCH THEM OUT OF THE FATHER’S HAND” (JN 10:29)

321st Meditation

“My Father, who has given them [the sheep] to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand” (Jn 10:29).

In the hands of our Saviour, in which the Father has placed us, we can pass safely through the time of our earthly life and face in the right way the dangers that come our way. They can never gain power over us, no matter how threatening they may seem. Think of the Lord’s victory on the Cross: the powers of darkness thought they had triumphed; but in reality it was the hour of their defeat. Read More
