“Trust in Me with a confidence so deep as to transform yourselves: this I shall be unable to resist. I shall then forgive your errors and lavish the greatest favours upon you” (Message of the Father to Sr. Eugenia Ravasio).
Trust in God opens wide the door to true life, so that a certain happiness may enter our hearts, which can heal many things in us, as well as serve other people. Our life then acquires a security and freedom never before experienced, and our Father can communicate to us day by day in a simple way, so that we can understand Him better and better. Day by day our relationship with God becomes more natural to us. The heavy yoke that often hangs over our lives becomes a lighter and lighter burden, and our acceptance of our humanity and the life God has given us becomes deeper and deeper.
Our Heavenly Father cannot resist this trust that places all its security in Him. It is a “triumphant confidence” that can move mountains (cf. Mt 17:20), that in all situations is certain of the Lord’s victory and does not waste time in engaging in fears and anxieties. It should not be confused with merely human optimism or naivety. Rather, “triumphant confidence” arises from the deepest certainty of God’s love and mercy. People who possess it are those who want to conquer God’s heart, and they never doubt that they will succeed. It is by the action of the Holy Spirit that this “triumphant confidence” takes root in them. And our Father cannot and will not resist it! God is ready to forgive all their faults and to shower those who trust Him with the greatest graces.
This “triumphant trust” transforms us. It turns the cowardly into valiant warriors. Come what may, whatever they have to face -whether it is the battle against the seductions of the flesh, the attractions of the world or the attacks of the devil- they are sure that God sustains them and that He will use everything for their good. Nothing can separate them from the love of Christ! (Rom 8:39).
