“THE SEA OF GOD’S GOODNESS”

“Let us plunge into the sea of His goodness, where every weakness is wiped away and fear is transformed into love” (Saint Paul of the Cross).

A similar passage is found in Madre Eugenia’s Little Book of the Father, in which we are invited to plunge into the sea of the Father’s mercy, where we are to be purified and strengthened so that we may continue our journey.

We must immerse ourselves in God’s infinite love and not dwell on our weaknesses and fears, but entrust them completely to God.

If we fail to do this, there is a real danger that we will, so to speak, be left alone with our weaknesses and fears and fail to overcome them properly. In the long run, this will weaken us and cause our soul to lose heart, perhaps becoming increasingly despondent.

On the other hand, the risk of love—entrusting ourselves completely to God when we see ourselves as incapable and weak—leaves the soul with not only a tender touch from God that brings comfort but also great gratitude for God’s love, which is given to us time and again. When this becomes an ingrained fundamental attitude, our journey with our Father becomes more natural, and our attention is focused more on the Lord than on ourselves.

Living this way is a healing lesson and deeply realistic because it shows us how well our Father knows us and what remedy He has provided for us. Trust grows in this way, and trust is at the heart of a true relationship with our heavenly Father. Trust will pull us out of every distressing time.

Paul of the Cross gave us these beautiful words so that we may understand that God’s love is stronger than anything!
