406th Meditation
“In my love, I have projected great plans for you” (Inner Word).
Once our Father has subjected everything to His loving dominion, down to the smallest detail, He has great plans in mind for us human beings.
Indeed, it is not just a few people who are called to find the way of faith, but all. Not only some must learn that their Creator and Redeemer is the kindest of all fathers, but all mankind must know it and hear it. Not only the Church must know it, but the call of a Father full of love must resound to the ends of the earth and in every possible way.
God calls all people into His Kingdom. In His Son, as well as in so many saints, He has made it clear to us that for His love no path is too long, no effort too great, no burden too heavy, so long as He calls people back to Himself.
“He that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name”, exclaims the blessed Virgin when she meets Elizabeth (Lk 1:49).
In the same way, God has great plans for each one of us. We are called to be the light of the world (Mt 5:14), bearing witness to the One who is truly great in Himself. We are called to enjoy His presence forever, in communion with His own.
St. Augustine gives us to understand that, by submitting ourselves to the One who is great in Himself, we ourselves become great; whereas, if we believe that we can be great on our own, we become small.
If we accept with simplicity the invitation of our Father, He will be able to bring about in us the great things He has projected in His love. And then we will become great in His love. What a wonderful perspective!
