“The angels will be your most wonderful friends and will help you in everything” (Inner Word).
In our life’s journey, and especially in the inevitable struggles, our Father does not leave us alone. Not only has He placed a personal guardian angel at our side, but the holy angels in general are always ready to come to our aid. Often we are not sufficiently aware of this, and we try to face things alone, when in fact we have all the help of heaven at our disposal, which would make everything brighter and easier.
Would we not also be willing to help others when they ask us and it is in our power to do so? It is only natural that we should, as long as we have not closed our hearts. Well, it turns out that we who are “evil” (cf. Mt 7:11) are willing to help.
The angels, on the other hand, are beings aflame with love for God and therefore love everything that God loves. Now we know that our Father loves us infinitely. In this sense, it is understandable that His angels long to serve us, to show us the love of God in which they themselves have their home.
The holy angels are a special gift of our Heavenly Father’s caring love, for who would not enjoy the radiant and luminous presence of these wonderful friends?
Our friendship with the angels becomes deeper the more consciously we cultivate it. Let us speak to them as friends who accompany us on our journey, who kindly protect us, and who are always ready to help us, especially when we ask them. This is what they are waiting for, although they will not stop caring for us if we forget to turn to them. But when we turn to them, their presence becomes even more noticeable.
