“SPEAKING FAMILIARLY WITH OUR FATHER”

“Did I not create you in My image? I did this so that you should find nothing strange when you talk on familiar terms with your Father, your Creator and your God.” (From God the Father’s message to M. Eugenia Ravasio).

We are created in the image of God. Through our faith, we know this and realize that it is our deepest dignity as human beings. We discover this image in a particularly striking way in the saints whom the Church has made known to us. We also see it in many other people who have earnestly followed the Lord, allowing the image of God to unfold within them more and more. However, we are all called to become what we are. The Feast of All Saints, which we will soon celebrate, reminds us of this.

In today’s message, our Father speaks of the intimacy of our relationship with Him. He wants us to become aware that He created us in His image so that we might cultivate that natural communion with Him which He has intended for us.

Just as it was not unusual in Paradise for human beings to speak with God and be on familiar terms with Him, it is not unusual now, despite the changed circumstances due to original sin. God’s attitude toward us has not changed, and though the image of God within us is wounded by sin, it has not been destroyed. The Son of God has made it possible for our guilt to be forgiven and our wounds to be healed.

Our Father continues from the above passage and lets us know:

“For you have become the children of My fatherly and divine love through My merciful goodness.”

So what is still preventing us from living fully in this intimate relationship that God so deeply desires?
