“NOTHING IS MORE LOVELY THAN MARY!”

“Nothing is small that God commands. … That is why I most earnestly recommend to you the veneration of the Mother of God. Nothing is more powerful, nothing more lovely, nothing stronger than she!” (St. Stanislaus Kostka)

The saint speaks from the depths of his own experience and holds out to all of us the great treasure that God has given: the Daughter of the Father, the Mother of the Son, and the Bride of the Holy Spirit.

Stanislaus left these beautiful words as his testament, and they are true. Some saints cannot praise the Mother of the Lord enough, for they have been caught in the net of her love. I recall the story of a Jewish friend who received the grace of an apparition of the Virgin Mary and was able to speak with her. One of the most beautiful impressions Roy shared with us was: “Her voice was like what makes music music!”

It is not mere enthusiasm on the part of the saints when they speak of Mary in the highest terms. They are simply describing the inexhaustible grace that our Father has poured into our Mother—and her wonderful response.

What makes you so beautiful, dearest Virgin and Daughter of God? The love of God! What makes you so kind, dearest Mother? The love of God! What makes you so strong, dearest Bride of the Holy Spirit? Nothing but the love of God!

Such is our Mother: She always points to the One who has done great things for her, and she does so with a heart burning with love for God.

Is it any wonder that so many people trust in her, that she is blessed throughout the whole world?

It is not only St. Stanislaus who points us to her, for she turns her great love toward us humans as her children. Who could resist? Roy found his way to the Holy Church. He will never forget having seen her and spoken with her. Surely he looks forward to the day when he will see her again in eternity.
