“IN THE SERVICE OF TRUTH”

“I have never shied away from serving the truth. Never deny what you have recognized as truth!” (Inner word)

This word certainly applies to all people—especially to us Catholics. “Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required; and of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more.” (Lk 12:48)

If we have received the grace from our Father to belong to the Catholic Church, then this is an undeserved honor. Perhaps we are not even fully aware of what it means to have been entrusted by God with the true doctrine and all that follows from it. Sometimes it even takes the testimony of those who have been freed from the darkness of sin or who have managed to extricate themselves from the errors of false teachings to remind us how great this gift is.

The Lord calls His disciples the “light of the world” and the “salt of the earth” (John 8:12) and grants them a share in His authority. Thus, they are sent out into this world on behalf of the Son of God to bear witness to the truth.

Yet through the example of the Lord Himself—first through His prophets, then through His Apostles, and through countless testimonies—we learn to this very day that the truth is rejected. Today this is arguably even more the case. Moreover, the question of truth is asked ever less frequently.

It is precisely then that our witness to the truth is needed without reservation. It is the moment of truth for our faith, and we have the opportunity to prove our loyalty to the Lord, for we stand in the service of the truth. And the truth, which must never be denied, calls for our witness. The Lord urges this upon us through His own example.
