“I am the Eternal One, and I hold time in My hands.” (inner word)
This word is meant to grant us peace and serenity. And this is especially important in these turbulent times, when the world and the Church are drifting together like a great ship, aimlessly adrift on a vast ocean. The rudder seems jammed, and, moreover, the severe damage that is allowing water to pour in cannot be overlooked. There is no human captain far and wide who knows how to handle this situation!
All the more reason to remember the words: “Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no help.” (146:3)
Severe crises, if we recognize them as such, are an invitation to rely on our Father all the more. Only He is able to penetrate human chaos and weave it into His wise plans. This is impossible for us, as this chaos arises precisely because so many people do not follow God’s instructions, creating constant disorder that spreads like cancer. But how can change occur if we do not know or identify the causes?
This word is certainly not meant to lead us into passivity. Rather, it is a word that seeks to touch our hearts and minds directly. It leads us to serenity because it calls for our trust in our Father amidst a world that has fallen apart. It is not despondency that will strengthen us, but the knowledge that we are at home in the Eternal One, who holds this period of time in His hands and guides it. And with this strength, we will come to know what we must do to bear witness to the many people adrift on the ship, showing them where they will find true help and salvation: in the love of the Eternal One.
