“If you are ready to receive me, I will come very close to you” (Little Book of the Father).
It is a promise from our Heavenly Father, and whether or not it is fulfilled depends on us. We know what God means: we must let God into our hearts and offer Him a home so that our Heavenly Father can dwell there always. If our Father has pitched His tent and we never turn away from Him but nurture this holy love, then the Lord will draw very near to us.
What does this mean?
God’s love for us, which, in this way, receives a response, will never cease to draw us into the mystery of love. God’s fatherly love also includes the love of friendship, the love of a confidant, and all the beauties of true love. The holiness of this love, which now permeates our soul, adorns it with divine radiance; and since love is a power of union, it is transformed by our Father’s presence. Through this union, as the mystics say, it is deified.
But how can God draw even closer to us than by making us like Himself—when His thoughts increasingly become our own, His actions increasingly become our own, and His divine Being opens itself to us?
What God planned from all eternity has come to pass in our souls, and our Father will bring it to completion so that what has begun through faith will be perfected in eternity!
