“ALWAYS HOLD FAST TO THE LORD”

“Always hold fast to Me and go deep within.” (Inner Word).

No matter what trials we face, inner or outer, and even if we are unable to perceive God’s presence in them, the Word urges us to hold fast to our Father. It is not our feelings that provide security on our journey with God through this time, but rather the Word of God and His will to guide us. We can absolutely rely on this. If we sincerely strive to live in a state of grace—that is, in harmony with God’s will—we can entrust ourselves to it without question or doubt. If we have strayed from the right path, we must immediately return to God so that we may receive His grace once again and live in it. God’s love always surrounds us, urging us either to hold fast to Him or to turn back to Him.

Then, we are called to take another step.

When we live in God’s grace, the Holy God has taken up residence within us and is present in our soul. We are invited to encounter our Father within our soul and remain with Him. In this union with God, our soul is continually strengthened and filled with God’s light, even when the “outer and inner storm” seems overwhelming and Jesus appears to be sleeping—just as He did on the boat tossed about by the storm on the Sea of Galilee, to the disciples’ terror.

Soon, our Lord will calm the storm. The deeper we descend into the depths of our soul, the more lasting this transformation will be; and it is not uncommon to notice the first signs of an approaching storm and to prepare ourselves in the Lord!
