GOD’S WAY OF DEALING WITH HIS FRIENDS

274th Meditation

“Day by day I will talk to you about My wishes for men, about My joys and My sorrows” (Father’s message to Sister Eugenia Ravasio).

These words to Mother Eugenia are certainly not addressed to her alone, but extend also to all those who cultivate an intimate relationship with the Heavenly Father. In various ways, they will be able to perceive His voice. Indeed, God invites all people into this relationship of deep trust, so that not only do we express and entrust all our concerns to Him, but He can also communicate to us what is in His Heart.

Such a relationship recalls the paradise state, when human beings lived in a natural relationship with God, which had not yet been disturbed. Through trust in the Father, we are again granted the inner reality of this state.

Is it not touching and a great honour that the Heavenly Father entrusts us with His concerns and communicates something about Himself? In such a relationship, we can notice how the great distance which separates us from God becomes smaller and smaller….

Without losing one iota of reverence for Him, we increasingly adopt that confident gesture of John, the beloved disciple, as he leaned on Jesus’ breast (Jn 13:23). This gesture expresses so eloquently the tender and loving relationship with the Lord.

What does the Father have to say to us? What does He want to share with us personally? What does He want to talk to us about? What task does He want to entrust to us?

We only have to take time for Him and ask Him in simplicity: “What are the desires of your heart, dear Father? What do you want to tell me?”

These are the questions of a relationship of friendship with God. Our Father will answer us, for He loves it when we approach Him in this way. On God’s part, it is completely natural to treat us like that, as long as we have not closed our hearts to Him. For us, on the other hand, it must become natural. In this way, perhaps He can pass on to us every day a little of what He has in His heart.
