399th Meditation
“Thou hast set him over the works of thy hands. Thou hast subjected all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen: moreover the beasts also of the fields. The birds of the air, and the fishes of the sea, that pass through the paths of the sea. O Lord our Lord, how admirable is thy name in all the earth!” (Ps 8:7-10).
In many areas, we humans can have a share in the glory of the Father. If we stay in God’s way, we will succeed in exercising the dominion He has entrusted to us over creation in the way He intended.
In His wisdom, our Father has ordained everything for our life. It is up to us to discover this wisdom in all things. Thus, even beyond scientific studies, we will be able to perceive the Father’s love in His good Creation. Once we discover it, this love will teach us not to destroy out of greed and thoughtlessness all that God has so kindly placed at our disposal, but to act as His true children. Indeed, St. Paul states in the Letter to the Romans:
“The expectation of the creature waiteth for the revelation of the sons of God. (…) Because the creature also itself shall be delivered from the servitude of corruption, into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. For we know that every creature groaneth and travaileth in pain, even till now” (Rom 8:19,21-22).
If we live as sons and daughters of God, doing our part to bring about the Kingdom of God on earth, then creation too will reach its deepest destiny.
