TRUST IN GOD IS THE FOUNDATION OF ALL

“The more you trust in Me, the more I will be able to make your life fruitful” (Interior Word).

Trusting in our Heavenly Father is of the utmost importance not only for our personal lives as we follow Christ, but also for the apostolate.

It is easy to explain. When we place our trust in God rather than in ourselves, He can act without the barriers we would otherwise put in His way. Thus, not only do we know that we are sheltered by God’s love and can enjoy His holy presence, which enlarges our hearts and makes them receptive, but this love impels us more and more to do what God has asked us to do.

Our Father is always mindful of everyone. The more confidently we hand over the reins to Him, the more He will be able to carry out His plans with our attentive cooperation. What can be said of faith can also be applied to trust in God. Consider, for example, Jesus’s astonishing statement: “Truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Mt 17:20).

Faith and trust are closely related. The Lord uses the example of a small mustard seed to demonstrate the power of faith. This can be applied directly to trust in Him. This is why it is so important that we take concrete steps of trust in all circumstances of our life, especially when we see no solution and become discouraged: “Father, I trust in You, and I trust that You will bring everything to fruition.”

Unfortunately, we often forget to do so and rely too heavily on ourselves. In those moments, we should pray fervently: “Father, I want to trust in You without limits so that all the apostolic works You entrust to me may bear abundant fruit.”
