God longs for us men to love Him and that this love be also expressed in a special worship and veneration.
We can imagine what it is like when we ourselves are filled with love and want to share this love with others… And if we, who are so imperfect, are urged to transmit this love to others, how much more our Father, who is the very source of love! In fact, the worship and veneration that God the Father asks for, have as their profound aim that our hearts turn to Him and that we discover and correspond to the true sense of our existence.
Through Mother Eugenia, God the Father addressed the following words to the Pope of that time:
“If only you knew how much I desire to be known, loved and honoured by men with a special devotion! I have had this desire for all eternity and since the creation of the first man. I have expressed this desire to men at various times, especially in the Old Testament. But man has never understood it. Now this desire makes Me forget all the past, if only it can become a reality now, in My creatures all over the world.”
And why does the Father desire this special worship?
Because “I want to give you many benefits and to let you share in large measure in My power and My glory, simply in order to make you happy and save you, and to show My sole desire: to love you and be loved in return by you.”
Here we encounter the mystery of the relationship between God and man: a true relationship of love, which enables God to make us sharers in His glory; that is, to introduce us fully into His divinity, as the Apostle Paul assures us in the Letter to the Ephesians: “He has marked us out for Himself beforehand, to be adopted sons, through Jesus Christ, (…) to the praise of the glory of His grace, His free gift to us in the Beloved.” (Eph 1:5-6)
If we knew how much God wants to spoil us, and how much He longs to shower us with blessings, we would not hesitate for a second to worship and adore Him as He asks.
