“THOSE WHO ARE FAITHFUL WILL LIVE WITH HIM”

318th Meditation

“Those who trust in him will understand the truth, those who are faithful will live with him in love” (Wis 3:9a).

In a heart that trusts in the Father the truth can penetrate, for God draws it to Himself and fills it with Himself. Such a heart detaches itself from the false securities that bind it to a world of illusions, so that our Father can fully awaken love for Him in this heart. Thus, the heart surrenders itself completely to Him. God enters it and dwells in it. He is no longer just an occasional guest, but makes this heart His temple, the sanctuary of His presence, His dwelling place….

If we remain close to Him in love, His Spirit becomes effective in us. And He, in turn, will zealously watch over us so that we remain in love: “For the Holy Spirit of instruction flees deceitfulness, recoils from unintelligent thoughts, is thwarted by the onset of vice” (Wis 1:5). He will warn us when we give way to wrong thoughts, will urge us to works of love and will move us not to hide anything from our Father, “since God observes the very soul and accurately surveys the heart, listening to every word” (Wis 1:6b).

Thus, the Heavenly Father assists us to be able to remain faithful to Him and to stand by Him, and from His side we will lack nothing to reach the end. His faithfulness will accompany us, will lift us up when we fail, will immerse us in the sea of His mercy… Our Father will not allow His Temple to be desolate, nor will He tolerate the setting up of idols or the ravaging of His vineyard by foxes (cf. Ct 2:15). The Father will place His angels at the door of our heart, to guard it like the tree of life in Paradise (cf. Gen 3:24).

How blessed are those who put their trust in the Lord (cf. Ps 40:4).
