THE TRUE KING

“You honour very fervently the Kingship of My Son Jesus, it is true, and in Him you are honoring Me!” (Message from God the Father to Sister Eugenia Ravasio)

I am writing this meditation on the Feast of Christ the King, which, according to the traditional calendar, is celebrated on the last Sunday of October. With tender words, our heavenly Father invites us to celebrate this feast, which also bears an expiatory character: to make reparation for the offenses and mockery directed against the Son of God, who came to establish the Kingdom of God on earth.

We know how they treated Him. Our Father knew this too, yet He did not hesitate to send His Son into the world. In doing so, He revealed His heart to us—a heart that longs for humanity to return to Him and not remain forever separated from Him because of guilt. The Father of the King undertook this work of love, and by honoring our King, we honor the One who sent Him. Everything we do out of love for Jesus—every word and every gesture—bears witness to the Father, especially when we fervently proclaim His reign through our lives.

With what wisdom our Father has ordered all His rational creatures! He alone is our common King, the God of love. We are all called to bend the knee and proclaim, “Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil. 2:11). Irrational creatures, for their part, have been subjected to human beings.

Accepting and respecting this order will lead us to true freedom. Obedience to human authorities also stems from this order, since all true authority comes from God—and we may submit to human authorities only insofar as they do not demand anything contrary to the will of our true King.

Thus, the Solemnity of Christ the King is not only a beautiful feast within the Church, but also a public veneration of the Son of God and, therefore, a public homage to the Father.
