‘I gave Moses My commandments to remind them, in spite of everything, of God, their Father, and of His sole wish, to save them. They were supposed to observe the commandments and thereby remember their infinitely good Father, always intent upon their present and eternal salvation’ (Message of God the Father to Sr. Eugenia Ravasio).
The commandments of the Lord… How important it is to keep them to this day, for they are an expression of His fatherly goodness! How much destruction is caused in every way by transgressing them!
In our Father’s words, we see that the commandments are not merely rules designed to protect our lives and establish order in our relationship with God and our neighbour. By giving them to Moses, God wanted above all for people to remember their Father, who was concerned about their salvation, since they had forgotten Him.
We see, then, that God’s love is manifested in all that He does and permits. The more we understand this, the clearer it becomes. For this reason, faith has been given to us as a light in our earthly life. Thanks to it, we can grasp and be sure of God’s love in all situations, no matter how dark things may seem around us. Sometimes our soul feels dry and our emotions do not sense His love. However, ‘the more the soul believes in you, the more intimately it is united to you and participates in your goodness’ (St Mary Magdalene de Pazzi). Therefore, the more we cling to the truth of God’s love for us, as He assures us, the more His love can penetrate us, and the more our inner certainty that we are loved grows.
This is always our Father’s intention, whether through the gift of His commandments or the many other blessings with which He showers us. We must always remember His love.
