“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters” (Ps 23:2).
Day after day, the Heavenly Father feeds us with His holy Word; day after day He invites us to the table of His grace; day after day He watches over our life; day after day He speaks to our heart; day after day His Holy Spirit reminds us of all that Jesus said and did (Jn 14:26); day after day our soul can graze in the green pastures of God and be satisfied.
Already in this life – even though it is still so imperfect – our Father pampers us with His love, nourishing our soul – which is still on a pilgrimage towards full unification with Him – with all that He, in His goodness, has prepared for us.
Our Father never ceases to offer us the quiet springs of His grace. If our soul is open, it can be purified and strengthened again and again in this torrent of grace.
In the Message to Mother Eugenia Ravasio, the Father speaks of Himself as the “Ocean of Love” and wants to make known to us the fountain that flows from His breast to quench our thirst. In this “Ocean of Love” the soul can immerse itself again and again with all its sins and imperfections, to be washed of its bitterness.
What a source of grace so immeasurable is holy confession, in which we receive Christ’s forgiveness! The soul, purified and comforted by the mercy of God, will take up the path again with new strength in pursuit of the Lord.
If we allow ourselves to be guided by the Holy Spirit, we will always and everywhere experience the reality of these words from the psalm, even in the most difficult moments of our lives. Since the Father’s love is never exhausted and His Heart is always open to us, the soul can find peace and serenity, satiated by the goodness of the Lord.
