489th Meditation
“Divine Father, sweet hope of our souls, may You be known, honoured and loved by all men!” (Antiphon of the Office to God the Father)
This antiphon summarizes the great desire expressed by the Father in the message to Mother Eugenia Ravasio. It can become for us an unceasing petition to God, asking Him to lead people to this decisive conclusion.
Let us pause for a moment: What would happen if humanity really experienced this profound conversion to God?
The answer is simple: true peace would descend like a comforting dew, for where God is, there is no war. It would be the peace that comes from God, the peace that the Lord promised His disciples: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you” (Jn 14:27). Enlightened by the Holy Spirit, people would see and love one another as brothers and sisters, children of the same Father. Then the promises of the prophets of old would be fulfilled:
“The calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.
The cow and the bear shall feed; their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. (…) They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” (Isa 11:6b-7:9).
Is this just an illusion, a dream, a pious wish, or a vague memory of paradise? It is not! It is the word of the Lord! It is what He has arranged and prepared for us human beings. It is the reality of God! It will become a reality in the world when people will know, honor, and love the Lord. Then this “valley of tears” will become a place of worship of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and the fruit will be true peace.
