«You must come to Me. I am so close to you! » (Message of God the Father to Sister Eugenia Ravasio).
This is how easy our Father makes it for us to reach Him: a single lift of the heart, a trusting word, a look upwards, a question to Him: ‘Where are You?’, ‘Who are You?’
One person had addressed the following prayer to Him when he was still living far from Him: ‘God, if You exist, show Yourself to me in such a way that I can understand You. Another person asked: ‘Is there such a thing as truth? Another: ‘Is there such a thing as true love?’
Our Father is always there, and every small gesture of undertaking the search for Him and speaking to Him, as He Himself planted it in our hearts, opens the doors through which we can reach God. He has been waiting for us there for a long time, especially if we have gone astray. But also if we have known the faith but have lived it only half-heartedly, He waits for us until He awakens in us the longing for full love and we consciously place ourselves at His service.
It really isn’t difficult! God does not put obstacles in our way so that we have to prove to Him how strong and skillful we are, and end up relying mainly on our human nature. On the contrary, He tells us: ‘Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’ (Mt 11:28). That does not mean that in following Christ a comfortable or even lazy life, free of challenges, awaits us. But it does mean that, if we have accepted God’s invitation and assimilated his love, He will lead us through the difficulties of life, so that we will be able to face with His strength whatever happens and whatever awaits us.
But first we must accept His invitation and get to know our Father. Then our soul will find that peace which it cannot find anywhere else – we only have to turn to Him! The Lord is so close to us!
