THE KEY OF DAVID – THE KEY OF LOVE

“People need to know me better. They need the key of David to open the door of my heart, the key that my Son received and granted to all mankind” (Inner Word).

In various passages of Sacred Scripture, the ‘key of David’ is mentioned, and we understand very well that this key was given to the Son of David, Jesus Christ. We also know of the “keys of the Kingdom” entrusted to St Peter, whose authority comes from the Lord Himself. In the Revelation of Saint John we hear these words to the angel of the church of Philadelphia:

“This says the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one shall shut, who shuts and no one opens” (Rev 3:7).

The keys of God’s heart are at our disposal, we just have to use them and take advantage of the daily access to our Father! What else can God do but offer them to us? If we accept them, they will be the keys to true life.

If we take these keys and through them gain access to God’s open heart, we will come to know Him better, according to His deepest desire. When we know God better, we will be better able to love Him and love people, and even our dealings with ourselves will be more and more marked by God’s wisdom.

The key of David is the key of love because, firmly rooted in the truth, it gives us access to the depths of God.

Love can open all doors, provided they are not consciously closed to it.

If we are entrusted with this key and, with the help of the Virgin Mary, make it an instrument of God’s grace, not only will the doors to heavenly glory be opened for us, but also the hearts of many people.
