291st Meditation
“The joy I feel in being with you is no less great than that which I felt when I was with My Son Jesus during His mortal life” (Message of the Father to Sr. Eugenia Ravasio).
What an affirmation of our Father! He introduces us into the mystery of His love to such an extent that we can hardly grasp it. Could there be a greater love than that of the Father for His only-begotten Son, who was obedient to Him even unto death (Phil 2:8), in whom He was well pleased and to whom He commanded us to listen (Mt 3:17)? The Lord introduces us and makes us sharers in His intra-Trinitarian love!
We can understand our Father’s pleasure in Jesus, for He did nothing but glorify Him and fulfil His Will in everything. The Heavenly Father could not have had a more perfect Son than the One whom He sent into the world to redeem us.
And this love God offers us, wanting to accompany us throughout our lives as He did accompany His Son, to protect us as He did Him and to lead us to the fulfilment of our mission in this world as Jesus fulfilled it. For the Father it is a joy to be among us!
It is true that it is not easy for us to understand this, since we human beings do not even come close to Jesus’ perfection, nor do we live in the peace and unity that would correspond to love.
But if the Father says so, we must simply believe Him. It is this inexplicable love of God, that does not dwell on our faults, that wants to forgive our sins, however serious they may be; that does not expect us to be saints already… On the contrary, His love will sanctify us, if we allow ourselves to be transformed by it. God sees us with this gaze; the same gaze with which He saw us when He called us to life; the same gaze with which He wants to redeem us and bring us to perfection.
Who has such a Father? We do! And He simply wants us to let ourselves be loved by Him and to learn to love. This is His great pleasure in us!
