“Everyone must recognize My infinite goodness, a goodness directed toward all, especially sinners, the sick, the dying, and all who suffer” (Message of God the Father to Sister Eugenia Ravasio).
This is the source of Christian charity, which responds to human suffering with compassion and has led the Church to care especially for the poor and vulnerable throughout its history. The compassion of our Heavenly Father has inspired Christians, awakening the spirit of charity within them so that they reflect God’s gentle kindness in their works of mercy. Christian charity reaches far beyond mere human compassion and concern for those closest to us.
Today’s quotation reveals the perfect goodness of our Father, who closes Himself to no one and shows Himself especially to those who need Him most: the suffering.
The Father begins by speaking of sinners. Indeed, among all who suffer, they are most deserving of compassion. Every other form of suffering ends—at the latest—with death. But the sinner who consciously shuts himself off from God’s love risks eternal condemnation, or at the very least, painful purification after death.
His situation is therefore deplorable. However, our Father’s love knocks on the door of his heart in every possible way, ready to forgive even the most grievous sins, for which His Son paid on the cross. Let us remember this promise that the Father wanted to leave embodied in the Message addressed to Mother Eugenia:
“All who call Me ‘FATHER,’ even once, will not perish, but will be assured of eternal life in communion with the elect.”
This says it all about the goodness of our Father!
