‘My God, Most Holy Trinity, be my dwelling place and my refuge; the Father’s house I never want to leave’ (St. Elizabeth of the Most Holy Trinity).
A soul in love with God expresses in her letters what the Heavenly Father offers us again and again in the message to Mother Eugenia: the most intimate relationship of the soul with her Creator and Saviour. All the books in the world cannot fully describe this love. We need to read more in that book of which Saint Joan of Arc spoke: to listen attentively to the Heart of God and to know our Father as He is.
Let us also listen a little to how Sister Elizabeth of the Trinity cultivated and interiorly perceived this love of the Heavenly Father: “How beautiful is your presence in me, in the inner sanctuary of my soul! Make it my constant concern to enter into myself, to lose myself in you, to live with you”.
And in accordance with the desire expressed by the Father in His message, Sister Elizabeth gently implores Him: ‘Grant, my God, that my soul may be a little paradise for You, in which You may rest with joy’.
The saint knew what the soul needed so that the Father could dwell in her with pleasure: “Help me, therefore, to remove from it everything that could offend your divine gaze”.
In this way, Sister Elizabeth’s soul became the throne of the Father, while His presence became for her the inner house of the Father: “My God, Most Holy Trinity, be my dwelling place and my refuge; the Father’s house I never want to leave. Allow me to remain with You, not only for a few moments or a few passing hours, but constantly. May I pray in You, may I adore in You, may I love in You, may I suffer, work and act in You”.
