“Now this love has been forgotten. I want to remind you of it, so that you can learn to know Me as I am” (Father’s message to Sister Eugenia Ravasio).
The term “forgetfulness of God” describes very well the situation in which a large part of the world finds itself. Humanity has forgotten that God exists or, to be more precise, that He is the loving Father who created everything out of love. Ultimately, this leads to unbelief and meaninglessness in life. If God is no longer at the center of our lives, who or what will take His place? Then we need “substitute gods,” and if these do not satisfy us, we are left with only our own person, and everything revolves around us. A pitiful, desolate condition….
But no one suffers more under this situation than our Father, and He wants to call people to leave behind this life far from God. Nothing can touch a person more deeply than to experience that God is indeed an infinitely loving Father. Then, when they recognize the Heavenly Father as He is, and the false or distorted images they have of Him fade away, the true light shines in their hearts.
Only to a “God who is love” can we completely surrender our soul. Indeed, it was created for this purpose. It loves true freedom, which consists precisely in not being carried away by the temptations of this imperfect world or in being excessively attached to people, but in giving itself completely to eternal Love.
If it does not do this, the soul remains empty and falls into a lack of freedom and slavery. Our Father wants to free it and make Himself known to it as He is: as the One who alone can truly fill the soul of human beings with His love.
