If people lived with the fear of God, dear heavenly Father, things on this earth would look very different. Everyone would first consider whether their actions align with Your will. That alone would be wonderful. They would also be careful not to harm their neighbor, who, like them, is called to live as a child of God. All Your commandments would be alive within them, as well as the words handed down to us by the Lord, His apostles, and later the Church as the teacher of the nations. The earth would truly be different, and the Kingdom of God could spread. Those in positions of power and responsibility would be especially vigilant, always seeking Your counsel and the counsel of those who fear and love You.
We could expand on these thoughts and reach the same conclusion: living in the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and would be a great blessing for everyone. May they recognize this and learn to love it.
And, dear Father, it would only be the beginning of wisdom. If people followed this path under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, then the other gifts of the Holy Spirit would also unfold, even to the point of wisdom. And is it not precisely wise people—whom we so often lack—who, filled with love, help others walk the right path?
Lord, we bring our lament before You. You know this, and it would also bring You joy if people gave You the attention You deserve.
But this lamenting, dear Father, must also come to an end. The only thing we can do is live in the fear of God ourselves and pray for this gift for all people. Simply live each day in the fear of God. Perhaps others will be inspired by it.
