THE FATHER OF THE KING

‘In order that everyone may really know this King [Jesus], they must know His kingdom as well. Now, to achieve this dual knowledge perfectly, it is also necessary to know the Father of this King, the Maker of this kingdom.’ (Message from God the Father to Sister Eugenia Ravasio).

Have we ever thought about this? Probably very few of us have. Perhaps we can compare it to when we only consider the Church militant and overlook the Church triumphant.

As Christians, we contemplate and celebrate the Reign of Our Lord Jesus Christ with enthusiasm, and in doing so we also undoubtedly honour God the Father. However, we tend to forget to acknowledge the Father of the King, from whom everything comes and who sent us this King.  Thus, we solemnly celebrate the Feast of Christ the King, but without fully bearing in mind the heavenly reality. Our Father points this out to us very delicately.

The entire Message to Mother Eugenia exudes the spirit of the ‘Father of the King’, who wishes to guide us towards a deeper knowledge of His person and invites the Church to complete God’s work, as He states in the following passage:

‘Truly, My children, the Church – this society I entrusted My Son to found – will complete its work by honouring Him Who is its Author: your Father and Creator.’

Today’s ‘3 Minutes for Abba’ therefore invites us to develop an intimate relationship with God our Father, which will greatly please His Son. It was precisely to proclaim His Father’s love to us that He came into the world. There is certainly no greater desire in the heart of our Redeemer, the King of heaven and earth, than that which our heavenly Father expresses to us: that we should know, honour and love Him. These daily reflections are intended to serve this very purpose.
