THE FAITHFULNESS OF OUR FATHER

“For the word of the Lord is upright, and all His work is done in faithfulness” (Ps 33:4).

May we assimilate these words into the depths of our being! This is the great desire of our Heavenly Father. As Richard Gräfes rightly writes, “Lack of trust is the typical sin of the ‘perfect.’ They always think that they are not active enough and believe that they should constantly offer something to the Redeemer.”

Our Father draws our attention to this in His message to Sister Eugenia Ravasio: “I would like a great trust to arise between man and his Father in heaven, a true spirit of familiarity and gentleness.”

Perhaps one cause of the “sin of the perfect” is that they rely too much on their own strength and focus too much on what they believe they must achieve. Consequently, they may miss the opportunity to simply sit at the Savior’s feet and allow themselves to be loved by Him, no more!

Men like to be active, which is certainly a good thing. But what sustains and moves us? Have we hoisted the sails of our soul’s ship to let the wind of the Holy Spirit propel it, or are we still rowing mainly in our own strength?

Our Father invites us into an intimate relationship with Him that is not based on constant effort. We only need to spend a few moments alone with God. It is precisely in those moments of intimacy that trust takes root most deeply within us. Then, trusting Him is no longer just an act of the will, but an inner certainty.

Thus, we praise every word of His, welcome them with gratitude, and recognize that all of His works, with which He surrounds us lovingly and constantly, demonstrate His faithfulness day after day and hour after hour.

Such is our Father!
