“The Holy Spirit is always ready to enlighten and strengthen you” (Interior Word).
The creative friendship of the Holy Spirit becomes a reality in all those who strive to love the heavenly Father. He accompanies, enlightens, and strengthens the human soul until it becomes a constant praise of God, so that He may glorify Himself more and more in it.
The Holy Spirit never tires of His work. We can consider Him a divine artist, infinitely patient and always ready to mold us. All the deformities caused by sin and ignorance must be overcome, as far as possible in our earthly life and depending on our docility to His work. The soul redeemed by the Lord receives divine adornment and shines with true beauty.
God, for His part, does everything in His power, for He wants us to awaken to our dignity as children of God and to live as such. From the beginning, He gave us this dignity and, when man fell into the hands of thieves, He sent His own Son into the world to free His soul, often disfigured beyond recognition, from captivity.
But it does not end there; God’s Providence sent us the Holy Spirit, the Divine Artist who wants to complete in us the work of divine love. This love, however, awaits our response. It always precedes us, attracts us, and calls us, but it cannot replace our “yes” and our trust.
Often, we do not know how this Artist wants to shape us, and we have erroneous images of ourselves. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is usually first concerned with dispelling these false images.
The best way to make the Divine Artist’s task easier for us is to trust Him completely and abandon ourselves to His wise guidance. He knows what He is doing and how He is doing it. We can be sure that He is not mistaken.
“Enter into the depths of the soul, divine light, and enrich us.”
