SUPREME WISDOM

“To listen to the Spirit is supreme wisdom; to live in intimacy with Him is a source of joy” (Inner Word).

The Father and the Son have not left us orphans (Jn 14:18), but have sent us the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen us in all things. He is the Teacher and sure guide of our spiritual life. If we do not abandon or relativise the authentic doctrine and moral teaching that the Church has always handed down to us, then we fulfil the conditions for our Master to teach us ever more deeply.

It is supreme wisdom to remain within the spiritual framework that has been laid down for us and to reject false guidance, whoever it may come from. If we do this, then the inner guidance of the Holy Spirit will become an inexhaustible source of joy, even if He has to make corrections in our walk, although in the latter case it will certainly take some time to see it as a source of spiritual joy.

What we usually receive from our inner Master is guidance, encouragement, a light to know what to do in this or that circumstance, answers to our questions, and many other things. Above all, the Holy Spirit opens our eyes to see from the perspective of love, to look at situations through God’s eyes, to the extent that we are able to understand them or the Lord wants us to comprehend them.

Therefore, a true encounter with the Holy Spirit is always an encounter with love and truth. This is the source of the joy that remains as long as we do not leave it. Even if this joy is sometimes more interior and does not manifest itself so much in our feelings, it warms us and enlightens us from within.
