226th Meditation
“Ask of me and I will give you; seek me and you will always find me; knock and the door will be wide open for you” (Inner Word).
We can be sure that we will always find the door of God’s Heart open when we approach Him. Perhaps we are not so aware of it, because we do not yet know our Heavenly Father well enough. If we get to know Him better, this open door will become a deep certainty for us. It will become so natural to us that we will always take it for granted that the Father will receive us with an open heart and give us His loving attention.
Could it be otherwise?
A God full of love, who even sends His own Son for the Redemption of mankind; a mankind that has often turned away from Him or is even hostile to Him; a Father whose Heart wants nothing more than to make us sharers in the fullness of His richness, why should He not be waiting for us?
Perhaps we feel too unworthy or unimportant… But for God we are not!
The ransom price He paid for us was the suffering and death of Christ (cf. 1Pet 1:18). That is what we poor creatures are worth to the Lord, who raises us up to be His children.
We simply do not yet understand God’s love and the dignity He has bestowed on us deeply enough. The intellect cannot grasp it and the heart is often still blocked or lacks the necessary freedom.
But there is a way to understand it: let us simply ask the Holy Spirit – who is the love between the Father and the Son – to reveal to us more deeply the love of the Father. He is the Spirit who cries out in us: “Abba, Father” (Gal 4:6). If, moved by this Spirit, we call upon our Father with the tender name “Abba”, then love is already beginning to melt our heart and enlighten our understanding. Then we will see and believe more and more how much our Father loves us.
