In preparing for this reflection, I looked at my text from 15 October 2020 for the sake of the importance of this topic. I consider it so important in our context that I am adopting a large part of it today. It is often said that repetition is the mother of wisdom. And indeed, we repeat prayers, words of the Holy Scriptures and much more in order to imprint them more deeply in our minds. In the same way, we should keep repeating essential aspects of our spiritual life. The bridling of our tongue is essential if the path of holiness is to unfold organically. Read More
The path of purification, Part 2: Asceticism
I have dealt with this topic quite extensively in 2020 from 13-17 October and recommend reading it again:
However, in the context of this theme it makes sense to go into it again, because asceticism accompanies us throughout life in order to keep our lives in a fruitful order.

Spiritual teachings
In today’s meditation and those of the next few days, we will leave the usual framework of biblical texts and devote ourselves to a theme of the spiritual life.
In my fourth so-called Balta-Lelija letter, in which I would like to give people help for the spiritual struggle, I talk about the path of holiness. Read More
St. Stephen and the Mercy of God
Acts 7:51-8:1
‘You stubborn people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears. You are always resisting the Holy Spirit, just as your ancestors used to do. Can you name a single prophet your ancestors never persecuted? They killed those who foretold the coming of the Upright One, and now you have become his betrayers, his murderers. In spite of being given the Law through angels, you have not kept it.’ Read More
The precious teachings of Jesus
Jn 6:22-29
Next day, the crowd that had stayed on the other side saw that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not got into the boat with his disciples, but that the disciples had set off by themselves. Other boats, however, had put in from Tiberias, near the place where the bread had been eaten. Read More
Obstacles to Faith

Lk 24:35-48
Then they told their story of what had happened on the road and how they had recognised him at the breaking of bread. They were still talking about all this when he himself stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you!’ In a state of alarm and fright, they thought they were seeing a ghost. Read More
Even in the darkness Jesus is with us

Jn 6:16-21
That evening the disciples went down to the shore of the sea and got into a boat to make for Capernaum on the other side of the sea. It was getting dark by now and Jesus had still not rejoined them. The wind was strong, and the sea was getting rough. They had rowed three or four miles when they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming towards the boat. They were afraid, but he said, ‘It’s me. Don’t be afraid.’ They were ready to take him into the boat, and immediately it reached the shore at the place they were making for. Read More
Understanding signs properly

Jn 6:1-15
After this, Jesus crossed the Sea of Galilee – or of Tiberias- and a large crowd followed him, impressed by the signs he had done in curing the sick. Jesus climbed the hillside and sat down there with his disciples. The time of the Jewish Passover was near. Looking up, Jesus saw the crowds approaching and said to Philip, ‘Where can we buy some bread for these people to eat?’ He said this only to put Philip to the test; he himself knew exactly what he was going to do. Obedience to God comes before obedience to men
Acts 5:27-33
When they had brought them in to face the Sanhedrin, the high priest demanded an explanation. ‘We gave you a strong warning’, he said, ‘not to preach in this name, and what have you done? You have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and seem determined to fix the guilt for this man’s death on us.’ Read More
Overcoming jealousy
Acts 5:17-26
Then the high priest intervened with all his supporters from the party of the Sadducees. Filled with jealousy, they arrested the apostles and had them put in the public gaol. But at night the angel of the Lord opened the prison gates and said as he led them out, ‘Go and take up position in the Temple, and tell the people all about this new Life.’ Read More
