OUR HEART WAS CREATED FOR GOD

“Man will not enjoy true happiness except with his Father and Creator, because his heart is made for Me alone” (Father’s message to Sister Eugenia Ravasio).

How often do people search for happiness and joy without finding it! How much suffering and disorientation, how much disappointment, inner emptiness and even despair result from this!

St. Augustine affirms that since man was created by God out of nothing, the further he moves away from God, the closer he comes to nothingness. Our Father allows us to experience this so that we may seek Him and find in Him the peace and fulfillment that cannot exist apart from Him. Even the greatest and most glorious possessions, honorary positions of all kinds, or the closest human relationships lack the essential if they are not centered on God.

Against this background, we can well understand the words of Qoheleth: “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity” (Ecc 1:2).

How easy it is to simply open our hearts to God, whose Heart is open to us and who created us for Himself! He created us to fill us with His love, to give the imperishable to the perishable, to open our eyes and make us sharers in His glory. It is only with God’s eyes, which open our own, that we can begin to see with what wisdom our Father has created everything, with what care and love He surrounds us and spoils us as His beloved children.

Our heart begins to understand more and more where its true home is. It turns away from the vanity of this world, no longer allows itself to be captured by temporary pleasures, and avoids even the smell of sin. It belongs to God and is infinitely happy to have such a good Father.
