At the beginning of the New Year, let this loving invitation from our Heavenly Father be the compass that guides us through this year.
In the midst of the darkness of this world, a light shines with the coming of the Son of God who dispels the darkness. He Himself is the light that enlightens all people who accept the grace of His coming (cf. Jn 1:9,12).
He is the one who reveals the Father to us.
This is why our heavenly Father invites us to turn to Jesus in order to understand better His love and goodness toward us. Indeed, who could give us a better understanding than the One who, in His fervent prayer to the Father, exclaims: “I made known to them thy name, and I will make it known, that the love with which thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them” (Jn 17:26).
Jesus’ love for his Father also brings us into a more intimate relationship with our Father. It was He who obtained for us the right to receive this love and thus to obtain salvation, enlightenment, healing and deliverance from evil.
This love is the constant and permanent reality that always surrounds us. If we enlarge our heart, it will be transformed into a “new heart” (Ezek 36:26), more capable of love.
This would be a goal worth striving for in the year 2024: that we, together with Jesus, raise our eyes to the Father, learn to love Him more and more through Him, the Son of God, and recognize how much He loves and cares for us. This will give us confidence, knowing that whatever happens this year, God will use everything for our salvation.
