“Let no one doubt the goodness of God, for even if their sins were as black as night, God’s mercy is stronger than our misery. But one thing is necessary: that the sinner open the door of his heart a little to the ray of God’s mercy” (Saint Faustina Kowalska).
There is hope for all people, because the Father opens His heart wide for them to return to Him. He is moved by His goodness, which is always there for us, even if our whole life has been in contradiction to His love and, on a subjective level, there seems to be no way out. Unfortunately, many are trapped in such darkness, and the devil ensures they cannot escape it.
That is why it is so important to proclaim the Gospel with authenticity, conveying again and again to people that God Himself has lowered Himself to our misery in the person of His Son and has revealed His love to us. People must learn in every way possible that the heavenly Father has never forgotten them or turned His back on them, but is constantly seeking them. Most importantly, they must hear that our Father’s love is greater than the darkness and guilt into which they may have fallen. In this sense, testimonies of people who have encountered God’s infinite mercy can be valuable. People need to know that we live each day by His mercy if we open our hearts to Him. They need to know that the Lord waits at the door of their hearts, ready to grant them His love.
Let us not leave people alone. Let us pray that they will take the small step of calling on God in the name of the Father at least once. Then He will save them.
