ONE SMALL STEP

111th Meditation on God the Father

“I am the best of Fathers! I know My creatures’ weaknesses! Come to Me, come with confidence and love! I will forgive you after you have repented” (Father’s message to Sister Eugenia Ravasio).

It is that simple… That is how simple God’s love is offered to us day by day.

It was God who took upon Himself our faults, nailing them to the Cross. He carried all our sufferings and sins to Mount Calvary. And what is the part that corresponds to us? We can simply turn to Him, in all simplicity, and lift up our eyes to Him. We no longer have to lower our eyes in shame, hiding ourselves from God and from men. The Lord makes us understand that He has always been waiting for us.

Perhaps it is difficult for us to imagine that God is like this… But then we have not yet understood something fundamental, namely that God’s love is immeasurable, that He wants to forgive and that He seeks every possible way to do so.

“Is it possible that (…) you could find in Me such a hard and insensitive heart as to let you perish?” (Father’s message to Sr. Eugenia Ravasio).

God has already accomplished the great work on our behalf. Now it is up to us to allow it to become a reality within us, so that we can exclaim with the Virgin Mary: “for the Almighty has done great things for me. Holy is his name” (Lk 1:49).

It is only a small step that we have to take; but with infinitely great consequences. If we immerse ourselves so simply in God’s love, as He invites us to do, we will experience the miracle of His love; a love that never ceases nor is exhausted.

Let no one say that they are too unworthy to receive God’s love! Everyone, no matter how serious their faults may be, can come to our Father. It is God’s love that calls us!

It is simply a matter of taking a small step, saying to Him with trust and love, “Father, forgive me!”
