“ON THE THRESHOLD OF HOLY WEEK”

“Lent is the autumn of the spiritual life, when one should harvest the fruits and gather them for the whole year. Do everything, I beg you, to become rich in these precious treasures, which nothing can rob or destroy (Mt 6:20). Remember what I often say: As long as we try to observe two Lents at once, we will never observe even one properly. So let us observe this one as if it were our last, and then we will observe it well.” (St. Francis de Sales – Letter to Jane Frances de Chantal)

Beloved Father, we have now reached the end of the preparatory texts and are already standing at the threshold of Holy Week. It has been a long journey, and even a war has broken out during this time, casting its shadow over the Holy City. Yet I hope that we have all been strengthened and that we have gathered good fruit. We have called these “flowers”—an inspiration from the Saint we quoted above. They are Your gifts, which You send to us from Your heart so that our faith may grow stronger.

Now, dear Father, throughout this week let us look to Your Son as He glorifies You and accomplishes all that You have entrusted to Him. In Him we see You, and that is enough. Thus, the daily “3 minutes for Abba” during Holy Week will fall silent. And in the reflections of the coming meditations, we thank You with all our hearts for sending us Your Son. With Him, we walk His path, looking up to You, and just as He did, we too want to fulfill Your will. That is what it is all about!
