KING OF THE AGES

“Just and true are thy ways, O King of the ages!” (Rev 15:3b).

Is it not a vain illusion, often leading to ruin, when people try to build their own world without keeping in mind the true King of the ages, who created heaven and earth and is at the same time the most loving Father? Have we not seen enough of the consequences of such a utopia?

Who could better regulate and harmonize the coexistence of human beings than the One who created them? In whom could men trust unconditionally, if not in Him who knows all their ways, the only One who always acts with justice and truth?

If only men would realize that they have a loving divine Father who will lead them safely through this life, if only they would surrender themselves to Him!

All will have to appear before the judgment of the true King when the time is fulfilled. Then all will be revealed, for nothing is hidden from the King of the ages.

“To whom much is given, much will be required” (Lk 12:48). This can be applied especially to the “earthly kings” to whom the destiny of their nations has been entrusted. If they rule according to the Lord’s will and follow His just and true ways, their ways will also be just and true. But if they do not follow the true King, their nations will fall into chaos and injustice will prevail.

We, who have the grace to know our Heavenly Father, to love Him as King of heaven and earth, and to bow our knees before Him, must pray for this world, which is often disoriented and has fallen under the dominion of evil, that it may not fall victim to those powers that do not love the King of heaven and “rise up against the Lord and His anointed” (Ps. 2:2).
