“Since I am your strength, you can dare to do anything that comes your way.” (Inner Word)
In the Holy Scriptures, we find the exhortation “Do not be afraid!” repeated over and over again. Our Father must encourage us, since we humans are often faint-hearted. This applies to all areas of life—whether we are faced with an overwhelming experience of the supernatural or the dangers lurking in our natural lives. Vigilance is certainly necessary, but we must not allow fear to overcome us.
Today’s phrase goes a step further. It exhorts us not only to resist intimidation but also to move forward with determination on the path laid out for us. We must pay close attention to the two points mentioned in this phrase. First, the Lord assures us that He is our strength, alluding to an inner experience that everyone who follows Christ undergoes. If you pay attention to God’s guidance, you will quickly realize that your own strength is limited. Once you internalize this truth, you will entrust yourself to God in all significant matters. Based on this reality, our Father gives us the fundamental impetus to continue on our path.
The second point is the exhortation to remain on the path He has marked out for us. This refers to the boldness necessary to move forward. Note that this boldness does not arise from temperament or recklessly confronting all kinds of situations; rather, it is the boldness we need to face the mission entrusted to us. Nothing should frighten or stop us! With trust in the Lord, we must dare to accomplish great things that serve to glorify God if they come our way. Timidity must be left behind, and trust in the Lord must take the reins.
