“I would like their lives to be made more joyous through My law” (Message from God the Father to Sister Eugenia Ravasio).
Our Father wants to grant us a joyful life in this world, even though it is full of misfortune. Benedict XVI was once asked how he could remain happy when, as Pope, he received news of so much suffering and so many problems. He simply replied that it would not help anyone, not even those who suffer, if he allowed himself to be robbed of his joy. This is indeed true: a person who lives in God’s joy brings light to this world. By living in harmony with our Father, a space of true peace is created, a piece of the cosmos in order — a creature that abides by the will and laws of its Creator.
This is not only a blessing, a consolation and a glimmer of hope for this fallen world, but also for our brothers and sisters who already enjoy the beatific vision of God in Heaven. They are watching over us to serve us and praise God together with us. Can we imagine the peace they feel when someone walks the path of their Father and our beloved Father? Did Jesus not say that there is great joy in heaven when a sinner repents (cf. Lk 15:7)?
And what about us? If we observe His Law, our Father will become the source of our unceasing joy. We will recognise His wisdom more and more. Each day will turn us into a school of His love, and our joy will grow. Even the dark days will be used by God to mould us in His love.
But what are we to do when we see so much confusion reigning in the world? It is painful to witness, and we often feel powerless to change it. Nor can we deny this reality. However, our relationship with our Lord and the joy that comes from it gives us the certainty that this situation is not hidden from God, and that He, in His omnipotence and mercy, will know how to include it in His plan of salvation. Thus, despite all the darkness and confusion around us, we can remain joyful in the Lord.
