JESUS IS THE DOOR TO THE FATHER’S HEART

“The door to the Father’s Heart is always open” (Inner Word).

The Son of God has opened it for us forever, and through Him we can always have access to our Father. Jesus has made this clear to us countless times, especially in the Gospel of John.

We can encounter the infinite love of the Father for His Son and of the Son for His Father in a special way by immersing ourselves in the prayer that Jesus addressed to Him before His Passion and Death, as recorded in the 17th chapter of the Gospel of John. In it, the desire of our Lord Jesus Christ to make us partakers of this love is manifested.

“The glory which thou hast given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and thou in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them even as thou hast loved me” (Jn 17:22-23).

And Jesus continues to introduce us to this love, so that we may have free access to the Father’s Heart, whose door He has opened for us:

“Father, I desire that they also, whom thou hast given me, may be with me where I am” (Jn 17:24).

By faith we know how much it cost Jesus to open this way for us. It was only because of His love that the Son of God was able to accept all suffering in order to wrest from the devil his dominion over sinful souls. Now it is up to us to go through this open door to the Father’s Heart with love and trust. All this has been prepared for each one of us. It was Jesus Himself who did it so that we might abide forever in the Father’s Heart:

“I made known to them thy name, and I will make it known, that the love with which thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them” (Jn 17:26).
