“Let every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil 2:11).
How it would glorify our Father if all humanity, together with those in heaven and under the earth, would bow their knees at the name of Jesus (cf. Phil 2:10)! Mankind would be freed from darkness and our Father would be able to restore all things to the order He has established for us and which corresponds to His infinite truth.
There is no doubt that, unfortunately, we are very far from this.
But we are certain that, as the Scriptures say, God has given His Son a Name that is above every name (Phil 2:9). When we hold fast to this truth in faith at a time when it is being challenged, when a growing neo-paganism is darkening the face of the earth, we glorify our Father and bear witness to His unwavering desire to save humanity.
Nothing that God has said will be lost. The word we have heard today from the Letter to the Philippians will motivate us to proclaim the love of our Father, revealed to us in His Son Jesus, in a world that is sinking into increasing darkness.
Can we abandon people to the world, leaving them to the error that everyone or every religion has its own way to God? Could our Father want that?
No, for the glory of God and for the love of humanity, we cannot. As Christians, we are not entrusted with proclaiming our own ideas about the salvation of mankind, but we must witness to the way that our loving Father has chosen for all.
This is the way we know and confess without reservation:
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father! He is the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father but by Him (Jn 14:6).
