307th Meditation
“I pour out my worry in his presence, in his presence I unfold my troubles” (Ps 142:2).
We can and even ought to speak openly to our Father about all that distresses us; to ask Him the questions we carry in our hearts, especially those for which we have not found an answer and whose answer we perhaps even fear in some way. We know many verses in the psalms in which the psalmist expresses the depths of his anguish. He is unable to overcome them on his own and so he turns to the heavenly Father.
For us humans, it is extremely important to identify God as our loving Father. Who else could we turn to? Who could understand us to our ultimate depths and even beyond that, know all that remains obscure to us? Why do some people not turn to Him with confidence? Do they not know God or do they have a wrong image of Him? Do they not trust our Father or are they afraid of Him?
One of the essential objectives of the Message that our Father entrusted to Mother Eugenia Ravasio is to make Himself known to us as a loving Father. Almost on every page of this book He declares His fatherly love to us, because God knows very well that having the wrong image of Him is a great obstacle to turning to Him with confidence. If fear and distrust take the place of trust, we close our hearts and our Father’s attempts to touch us will often be frustrated.
The psalmist, on the other hand, invites us to expose openly before God what is in our hearts. We can even ask Him why there is so much injustice and need in the world, why He does not intervene to put an end to it. As the Revelation of Saint John testifies, even the saints in eternity ask Him, “Holy, true Master, how much longer will you wait before you pass sentence…?” (Rev 6:10).
So, God is waiting for us to come to Him, and we can present everything to Him. He will answer in His own way!
