‘In my love, I have taken possession of you. You are mine!’ (Inner Word).
We know a similar phrase in Sacred Scripture: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine” (Is 43:1). And St Paul exclaims: “Nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom 8:39).
Truly, we are children of our Heavenly Father, whom Jesus gathered and redeemed from the power of darkness by His shed blood on the Cross. We have handed over our lives to the One who has given us everything, and He has marked us with the seal of His love.
We gladly give our hearts to the Lord, the true King and God, who first gave us His Heart. We give it to Him, even if it is still rebellious and capricious, and we place it under the dominion of His love. May He mould it according to His Heart, so that we may glorify the Father as much as we can!
Our Lord will always defend us from those who would seize our soul and darken it. If we are persecuted, He will show us a way out. When they try to intimidate us, our Father will strengthen us. When we succumb to our weakness, He will lift us up. When we are exhausted on the way, He will send us His angel. No one can care for us better, with greater freedom and love, than our own Father. No one will love us more than the Lord, and no one can treat us so well and so tenderly as the One who is Love Himself.
O Lord, what a joy it is to belong to you! We beseech You to take possession of us even more deeply and to remove all that still hinders Your work, so that we may belong to You more and more and desire nothing more than to do Your holy Will.
