Beloved Father, You guide us in many ways as we follow Christ. Your reminders are among the precious gifts You give us. They carry a serious undertone so that they can awaken us and emphasize their importance. They spring from Your loving heart and are imbued with gentleness. Unlike stirring or frightening warnings, they are more like reminders of what we can easily overlook.
In today’s reading on our path of fasting, You drew our attention to the fact that even someone who walks the straight path can stray from it. We will take this with us, dear Father, as a reminder on our journey. It should resonate within us not to frighten us but to keep us vigilant about our lives. This means perceiving each day as Your guidance, through which You want us to grow and distance ourselves more and more from sin.
In a very subtle way, it is the Holy Spirit who admonishes us again and again. The better we are able to perceive Him, the more gently it happens. Without losing their seriousness, the admonitions are understood by our soul as invitations of love, making our following flexible even when we are moving through the more routine course of life.
Dear Father, please never cease Your admonitions. They are more precious to us than gold and all earthly treasures. They are the shining guideposts that always give us what we need at the right time so that we do not stray from the path.
