“I am your source” (Inner Word).
We can turn to this source at any time, from which the water of divine life always flows to enlighten and heal our lives, to quench our thirst for love and truth. As Jesus said to the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well: “Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst; the water that I shall give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (Jn 4:14)
For all of us who live in a state of grace, this gift from our Heavenly Father becomes a reality and bears fruit whenever we seek it and remain in intimate communion with Him. This fountain is our lifeblood! Without the water that flows from it, we would dry up and be deprived of true life, which could no longer be renewed or deepened. Life would become arid. We would seek substitutes, but we would never find anything that could replace the living water that flows from God’s heart to us.
God Himself wants to quench our thirst; He Himself is the object of all our longing. By drinking from this source, we receive the wisdom and strength necessary to fulfill the task entrusted to us. Only if we drink from it without interruption will the water of salvation also flow through us to other people. And they are so in need of this water!
The Lord tells us clearly in the Gospel: “If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink. He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water’.” (Jn 7:37b–39a)
And our Father assures us in the message to Mother Eugenia Ravasio: “I also want to open up My Heart to you, whence a refreshing spring will issue and where all men will quench their thirst.”
Our Father is the fountain itself!
