“The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand” (Jn 3:35).
We all live by this love which the Father bestows on us through and in His Son. No one has ever and will ever be able to respond more perfectly to His love than His divine Son.
In one of the visions, the seer John heard a voice proclaiming in heaven: ‘“Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it’ (Rev 5:2-3). In view of this, John began to weep. But he was comforted, for the vision continued and he saw a Lamb who ‘went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne.’ (v. 7).
It is an infinite comfort to us to know that the Heavenly Father has placed everything in the hands of His Son, who ransomed us from all bondage at the price of His blood. Thus we can join in the new song of the redeemed in Revelation: “Worthy art thou to take the scroll and to open its seals, for thou wast slain and by thy blood didst ransom men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and hast made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on earth.” (Rev 5:9-10).
Our Father has given us the best He could give us. Is it not an inexhaustible source of joy to listen to Jesus? Are not all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden in Him (Col 2:3)? Is He not the Lord to whom we can turn when we are weary and burdened (Mt 11:28)? Does He not comfort and forgive us from the cross when we have fallen? Does He not make us sharers in the same mission He received from His Father? Did He not assure us that He would go and prepare a dwelling place for us in eternity (Jn 14:2)?
No, beloved Father, you could never have sent us someone who would give us more. You yourself have come to us in your Son; we adore you and marvel!
