“His wisdom is infinite, and when I ask Him for advice, I am not deceived!” (St. Pius X)
Once again, St. Pius X accompanies us into the new year.
In these difficult times, we need good counsel on how to live our faith fruitfully. Who could advise us better than our Heavenly Father? Who could share His infinite wisdom with us better than the One who is Wisdom itself?
I like to remember St. Joan of Arc. She had her heavenly counsel, and when she needed to know how to fulfill her mission, she turned to Him and was never deceived. She also told this to the military council, which often wanted to see things differently than she did. But she was right, and when she was burned at the stake, she said: “My voices did not deceive me!”
If we sincerely ask our Father, He will always answer us in a way that allows us to continue on our path. St. Pius X certainly experienced this when making difficult decisions. But his words are not valid only for a pope; we can all draw on God’s wisdom, and God will not lead us astray. We are not too insignificant to ask our Father for advice, because we are His children. Why wouldn’t He answer His children when they are openhearted?
Especially at a time when many shepherds of the Church have lost their way, when politicians and public figures are so disoriented, it is wise to remember our Father’s wisdom and seek His counsel.
We can trust that we will not be deceived, as Pius X testifies!
