“If your heart belongs to Me, you will notice even the slightest deviation. And that is good!” (Inner Word)
Once we have deepened our following of the Lord and awakened from the sleep of self-centeredness and self-love, love—whose kiss has awakened us—will not remain idle. It will not rest, for it desires to reign in our hearts. How long it has taken to make us understand that it is the essence of our life! How much ice has accumulated around our hearts, as our Father expresses in the Message to Mother Eugenia!
But since love has begun to conquer our hearts and gain access to the depths of our being, it will not give up until it reaches its goal. Day by day, it will shape us so that we perceive it with ever greater delicacy. Then we will have reached the heart of our Father. Love dwells there, and it will lead us there.
Then we will no longer tolerate hardness within ourselves; all vices, even the slightest hint of them, will be repugnant to us. Every lack of charity will torment us; every lack of sincerity will be like darkness; every vanity will appear as a ridiculous pretense. Every evil thought will suffocate us and demand to be expelled.
Our heart will have encountered the holiness of God. It will long to remain with Him forever; any deviation will wound it and cast a shadow. That is good, for it is a sign that love has conquered. Darkness must give way, and a bright day that knows no sunset will dawn.
When our last hour comes, when our heavenly Father has finished His work in us and welcomes us into His arms, love will be there. It will say to us, “It is good that you have followed My motions.” All those who have done so will respond in unison: “Yes, amen!”
